“Why pink?”
It's the most popular question among my friends over the past few months, as I've repeatedly asked them excruciating questions about the label for my first honey.
Why pink?... The truth is that pink has always been my color, the one I feel most comfortable in, the one that gives me feelings of calm and at the same time makes me happy.
But questions force you to reflect and find more satisfying answers, so I began studying the symbolism of pink to understand if there was actually a connection between my feelings and its true meaning.
Pink is a very harmonious color associated with positive and delicate feelings, and therefore linked to the vision of a future free of conflict.. A symbol of romance and beauty, pink also stimulates the senses of taste and smell, bringing to mind sensations of sweetness and softness..
I've never been tied to the idea of pink being a feminine color. Rather, for me, pink is linked to the idea of biodiversity: a color that stands out, stands out, but also creates harmony. At least in my imagination, biodiversity is pink.. According to the encyclopedia Treccani: “biological diversity means diversityin accordance with the meanings of differentiation, variation, variability, complexity, and richness in living organisms, from whatever source it derives, including, among others, terrestrial, marine, and aquatic ecosystems in general, as well as the ecological complexes of which they are part.". It is precisely this diversity that makes biodiversity pink in my eyes. When I think of the thousands of living creatures that represent the multitude of species on earth, I imagine them flamboyant in their individuality. I could never have chosen yellow or orange to sum up my beekeeping experience. I've never liked direct associations, even though I'm still a victim of them: green for nature, red for love, etc.
It's a bit of a legacy of our cultural history and in the end that too has its value.
As the daughter of a father who made fashion his life, I've always resisted the banal association of pink and female, blue and male. There's nothing more beautiful than a man in a pink shirt.
However, my color is pink, and I liked to emphasize that this is an almost entirely female team effort born from the cooperation between me, my worker bees, and their queens.
